The Gyrotonic® Expansion System is a mind/body method of exercise comprised of movements that follow the natural rhythms of the body by way of weighted machines. Juliu Horvath created the method in the 1970s and based the movements on those of yoga, dance, swimming, and thai chi. The accompanying rhythmic breath helps open blocked areas of the body, creating greater joint articulation, stimulating the nervous system, and creating greater mobility, all the while, strengthening the core. Essentially, all directions of movement are explored, making it a dynamic, non-linear, and fun way of exercising.

The Pilates Method is a tried and true form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the body starting with the deep muscles that sit closest to the spine. The use of slow, controlled movements helps engage those muscles that support the skeletal system, helping to create efficient movement, a strong core, and added flexibility. In other words, Pilates tones, strengthens, lengthens, increases endurance, and helps integrate the body and mind.
